Do the Work

I am not normally one to push products I enjoyed on others but I just finished reading a fantastic book written by Steven Pressfield.  The name of the book is Do the Work and I urge you to stop what you’re doing and go download it.

It is being offered on for FREE.  That’s right, there is no charge for this fantastic book so stop reading this post and go check it out.  It’s part of the Domino Project (headed by Seth Godin) which is trying to change the way that authors get their works out into the market place without relying on traditional publishers.

The book is available in digital format.  It’s intended to be downloaded to an Amazon Kindle or iPad, but you can also download it to your computer or smartphone and read it that way.  It’s a quick manifesto that should take you less than an hour to get through.

The book is written to help guide you through the writing process from start to finish, but it can be applied to any project or task that you want to get started on.  I don’t want to give too much away but it deals with the stuggles ALL of us deal with when we are trying to complete a task.  Whether you are a world famous author, a  well known entrepreneur, or an upstart trying to find your way in the world, we all have the same demon (which Pressfield names Resistance) that torments us all.

Do the Work teaches us the roadblocks which will arise (and they will) and gives us a game plan on how to work our way through it.  I liked the book so much I ended up reading it twice in back-to-back days.
